Disappointing Derby

Not for the first time this season Bryncethin conceded an early try that left them chasing the game in this Division 3B West Central match.
The Sports crossed for a try in the first 5 minutes after some good inter passing between their forwards and backs to give them a perfect start. The home side then started to apply some pressure, only for their efforts to be dashed when they lost the ball in the visitors half and the strong running Sports backs took advantage to run in a long range try, which was converted to give them a 12-0 lead.
Following another period in the visitors half Bryncethin were awarded a penalty that scrum half Ryan Jones converted to close the points difference to 9 points, but then the Sports pack took full advantage of a line out on their opponents line as they drove over for their third try, leaving the half time score at 17-3.
The second half proved a more equal affair as the home side showed more urgency as they struggled to close the gap and Jones was again on target with his second penalty. However it was the visitors who scored the final points as they took advantage of some poor home defence on the half way line to run in their fourth try and to leave the final score at 22-6 to the Sports Club.
For Bryncethin there were good performances from the back row of Craig Howard, Mark Thomas and Steve James whilst centre Tyler Thomas looked sharp with ball in hand.
Next week Bryncethin have another break from the league before they travel to Banwen on 26th. November.
