It was the jumbo Baglan pack that laid the foundation for their emphatic win in this West Central 3 B league fixture.
The visitors laid out their stall straight from the start as they used their forwards to drive to the Bryncethin line and scored their first try after just six minutes of the game. The try was converted and they quickly added a penalty and a further converted try to lead by 17-0 after just 16 minutes of play. The home side then seemed to settle as they tried to move their opponents around the field by running the ball at every opportunity. They were rewarded with a penalty, converted by Gavin Parsons, to close the points gap to 14 points but, 5 minutes later, Baglan converted a penalty of their own, and then added a further converted try to leave the score at 27-3 at the break.
Although the young home side gave their all the visitors added a further two tries, one of which was converted, before some excellent interplay by forwards and backs saw home centre Ryan James cross for a try, converted by Parsons, to reduce the points deficit. However it was the visitors who had the last word scoring two further tries to leave the final score at 10-53.
Bryncethin's man of the match was young James Wood whilst full back Shane Howells and centre Nathan Hawkins worked hard to try and stem the flow.
Next week Bryncethin travel to Vardre before entertaining top of the table Rhigos on 28th. October.
